Cemetery

The Shire of Wickepin is responsible for the administration of the Wickepin, Yealering, Harrismith and Toolibin cemeteries. Cemetery plots can be reserved at any cemetery and additionally niche wall compartments are available at the Wickepin, Yealering and Harrismith Cemeteries. Reservations and Grant of Right of Burial

To reserve a burial plot or a niche wall compartment a Reservation Form and a Purchase of Grant of Right of Burial Form must be completed. The Grant of Right of Burial is the agreement over a burial plot or niche wall compartment. This agreement allows the Grantee, holder of the Grant of Right of Burial, the right to inter ashes, conduct a burial and erect a monument within the plot. The Grantee is the person the Shire liaises with on all matters relating to the plot or compartment it refers to and as such is considered a legal document. We recommend you keep this with your will and/or other personal documents.

Monumental Works

A monument is any form of grave stone or covering. Anyone supplying or erecting a monument or memorial must first apply for and be granted a permit. There are restrictions in relation to dimensions and materials. There are also requirements relating back to the weight, footings and construction. No part of your monument may exceed your grave allocation. See the Shire of Wickepin Cemetery Guide for full details.

Niche Walls

Wickepin, Yealering and Harrismith cemeteries have niche walls for the placement of ashes or as a memorial. All niche wall compartments require a reservation and purchase of grant of right of burial prior to interment of ashes or placement of a plaque. Ashes cannot be interred without a plaque. Plaques must be ordered through the Shire of Wickepin administration office.
